In April 2013, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency transitioned to automated processing and electronic issuance of the Arrival/Departure Record (Form I-94) and is no longer issuing paper Forms I-94 to air and sea travelers arriving to the United States.
We strongly encourage all nonimmigrants arriving in the U.S. by air and sea (paper Forms I-94 are still being issued at land Ports of Entry) to retrieve and print a copy of their new Admission Number/Form I-94 entry record upon each U.S. entry or re-entry, for their personal records. This process should be performed after each U.S. entry and prior to any subsequent departure from the U.S. as each departure automatically eliminates the Form I-94 record from the CBP website. More information pertaining to this new process is available in a Fact Sheet issued by CBP.
To facilitate the retrieval of the electronic Admission Number/Form I-94, nonimmigrants should access CBP's I-94 Retrieval page. They will be prompted to enter certain information, such as name, date of birth, passport number, and the country of issuance, as well as the date and the class of last U.S. admission (as noted on the most recent U.S. entry stamp located in the passport). Note that a video demonstration on how to complete this process to obtain an electronic record of the Form I-94/U.S. entry is also available online.
